Mission Statement
The Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller), Department of Defense is responsible for carrying out the functions assigned to him or her by Title IV, Public Law 216, 81" Congress and assuring the utmost economy and efficiency in the operations of the Department of Defense through sound business management and effective fiscal planning and control.
The Deputy Comptroller (Program/Budget) is responsible for the direction and supervision of: (1) the formulation, management, and execution of the budget of the Department of Defense; (2) the reprogramming system of the Department of Defense; (3) the development of financial policy within the Department of Defense; (4) the planning, programming, and budgeting system of the Department of Defense; and (5) the establishment of budgetary principles.
The Program/Budget Directorates are responsible for the review of the Military Departments and Defense Agencies budgets and apportionments requests and contingency operations budgets, including technical and financial evaluation, formulation, justification and execution.

This position may be filled at either GS-13 , GS-14 , or GS-15 grade level, please indicate the grade for which you want to be considered, incumbent may be non-competitively promoted to the next grade level in the time frame allowed by regulations and upon management's request. Promotion is contingent upon satisfactory completion of required training, regulatory requirements and demonstrated ability to perform the duties. Promotion is not guaranteed or implied.
