WHAT DOES A CLERK DO? Performs a variety of duties related to filling routine taxpayer orders for IRS published products. As a clerk, you will be filling orders from a computerized picking ticket or a paper label or list; selecting and assembling appropriate containers from among different boxes, tubes and envelopes. This work is performed in a light industrial environment.

WHAT IS THE WAGE & INVESTMENT (W&I) DIVISION? The Wage & Investment Division (W&I) serves about 122 million taxpayers who file upwards of 94 million returns each year. Key W&I objectives are to provide high-quality taxpayer assistance, and to enable taxpayers to transact and communicate electronically to file their returns, make payments and receive assistance. W&I partners with private organizations to provide assistance to such disadvantaged groups as elderly and low-income taxpayers.

WHAT IS THE NATIONAL DISTRIBUTION CENTER (NDC)? The National Distribution Center (NDC) is responsible for providing business, individual taxpayers, and tax practitioners with forms, publications, and instructions regarding the Federal tax system. Work is performed in a warehouse/light industrial environment which may not be air conditioned. Employees may be exposed to moderate noise levels from various machines and conveyors. Employees may come in contact with paper lint, dust, glue, ink, grease, and oil. Work will require prolonged standing, bending, stretching, and lifting up to 40 pounds.

Positions are located at the National Distribution Center (NDC) located at 1201 N. Mitsubishi Motorway, Bloomington, IL. The anticipated start date is December 2012. NIGHT SHIFT ONLY

Tour of duty will be Monday – Friday and may be adjusted to meet seasonal demands. Start times will be 2:00, 3:00, 5:00 or 6:00 PM. Work is typically available until 10:00 PM for the NIGHT shift. You must be available to work a minimum of 4 hours per night, 4 nights per week.

The first 200 Category A applications will be considered first. Thereafter, eligible applicants will be referred on an as needed basis, based on date and time of application.
