WHAT DOES A LEAD CLERK DO? A Lead Clerk performs a vital role in the Service's ability to process, distribute and manage more than a million pieces of correspondence, including tax returns, each year. In this position, you will serve as a work leader over employees engaged in accomplishing day to day tasks as a Forms Clerk. The Forms Clerk performs a critical role in processing both incoming and outgoing mail. These clerks perform critical roles in the Services ability to serve million of taxpayers each year.
WHAT IS THE WAGE & INVESTMENT DIVISION? The Wage & Investment Division (W & I) serves about 122 million taxpayers who file upwards of 94 million returns each year. Key W & I objectives are to provide high-quality taxpayer assistance, and to enable taxpayers to transact and communicate electronically to file their returns, make payments and receive assistance. W & I partners with private organizations to provide assistance to such disadvantaged groups as elderly and low-income taxpayers.
Positions are in the National Distribution Center: Processing located in Bloomington, IL.
WHAT IS THE NATIONAL DISTRIBUTION CENTER (NDC)? The National Distribution Center (NDC) is responsible for providing business, individual taxpayers, and tax practitioners with forms, publications, and instructions regarding the Federal tax system. Work is performed in a warehouse/light industrial environment which may not be air conditioned. Employees may be exposed to moderate noise levels from various machines and conveyors. Employees may come in contact with paper lint, dust, glue, ink, grease, and oil. Work will require prolonged standing, bending, stretching, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
