WHAT DOES A LEAD FINANCIAL TECHNICIAN DO? As a Lead Financial Technician you will work as a leader over employees engaged in accomplishing financial clerical work. In this role, you will be engaged in examining income tax returns covering a wide variety of tax liability issues through correspondence and telephone contact with the taxpayer. The work covers a wide range of programs involving current and prior year tax rules, regulations, and procedures. Cases worked are primarily Individual Master File (IMF), however, due to the wide range of programs and issues involved you may also work Business Master File (BMF) issues as well.
WHAT IS THE WAGE AND INVESTMENT (W&I) DIVISION? The Wage & Investment Division (W & I) serves about 122 million taxpayers who file upwards of 94 million returns each year. Key W & I objectives are to provide high-quality taxpayer assistance, and to enable taxpayers to transact and communicate electronically to file their returns, make payments and receive assistance. W & I partners with private organizations to provide assistance to such disadvantaged groups as elderly and low-income taxpayers.
Position is located in Andover Compliance Services, Examination Operation Department 1, Team 106 in Metheun, MA.
