OVERVIEW:
The position of Public Affairs Specialist [Chief, Community & Public Affairs Service (C&PAS)] at VA Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System (VAGCVHCS), Biloxi, MS, functions as the expert in both internal and external Public Affairs and media relations. The Chief, C&PAS has program responsibility and oversight for both Public Affairs and Voluntary Services for the medical center in Biloxi, MS and four community based outpatient clinics in Alabama and Florida, covering a geographic area spanning over 300 linear miles.
The incumbent serves as Manager for the C&PAS with supervisory responsibility. The incumbent develops, manages, coordinates, maintains and integrates the voluntary service and public affairs programs, congressional relations, media relations, community and affiliate relations, event management and internal/external communications, building relationships with all stakeholders, building public trust and creating a positive image of VAGCVHCS' services and programs.
The incumbent has final decision-making authority, responsibility and accountability on issues affecting the C&PAS. He/she collaborates with operations and program managers to ensure that integrated goals and priorities for VAGCHVCS are met.
