Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission.  They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations.  The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

About the Position:  This is an excellent developmental opportunity in which the permanent incumbent is deployed to Afghanistan therefore is an obligated position.  Management will select 1-2 best qualified candidates to fill this position temporarily, for a time period that could vary from 5 months up to 179 days each.  If multiple selections are made, selectees will serve consecutive periods. In this position you will independently plan, conduct and coordinate the public affairs program of the Great lakes and Ohio River Division (LRD).  You will exercise staff supervision over the public affairs programs of the subordinate districts of Buffalo, Chicago, Detroit, Huntington, Louisville, Nashville and Pittsburgh.  Serves as principle advisor to the Division Commander and key staff on public affairs and interface with various public and private groups.

 

Temporary Duty (TDY) will be authorized in accordance with provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations.  Payment of TDY costs has been determined to be in the Governments best interest.

 

DoD National Relocation Program (DNRP) is not authorized, based on a determination that a DNRP is not in the Government interest.

Current Army employee with competitive status – You must attach your most recent non-award SF 50 as proof of eligibility (current SF-50 block 24 Tenure states "1" or "2". Block 34-Position Occupied must be "1")

Current Temporary or Term Army Civilian Employee with competitive status  - You are a current Department of Army employee on a temporary or term appointment (current SF-50 block 24-Tenure states "0" or "3") who has previously held a Career or Career-Conditional appointment in the competitive service.   You MUST submit a copy of your non-award SF-50 that reflects your highest grade held on a permanent basis (Block 34-Position Occupied must be "1" ) where block 24-Tenure MUST be a "1" or "2", along with your application/resume package).
