This is a developmental Prosthetic Clerk  GS-303-6 position is located within the VISN 12 Prosthetics and Sensory Aids Service (P&SAS) product line, at the  Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  This medical center has an active outpatient treatment program and includes, Audiology & Speech Pathology, Visual Impairment Service Team, Spinal Cord Injury, Rehabilitation Medicine, Medical Services, Surgical Service, Ophthalmology, and Orthopedic Services.  P&SAS have coordination of the Amputee Clinic and Major Medical Committee.  This facility also includes active Community Based Outpatient clinics throughout Wisconsin and specialized clinical referrals from outside VISN 12.  This position has a high degree of visibility as a result of direct patient care contact with the veteran population, many of whom are severely disabled.  Therefore, the Prosthetic Clerk should display a positive image and be highly motivated to seek ways to expedite patient processing, accomplish the VA mission and adapt to the ever-changing world of healthcare.  The Prosthetic Clerk will provide veterans with prosthetic and orthotic devices, medical supplies, etc., through stock issue or purchase, after making a determination of legal eligibility and medical entitlement.  This developmental position leads to the target grade of GS-7.  The Prosthetic Clerk performs developmental assignments intended to broaden skill and provide practical experience leading to progressively more complex assignments performed under less supervision.
