The BLM manages more land 253 million acres than any other Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western states, including Alaska. The Bureau, with a budget of about $1 billion, also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estates throughout the nation. The BLM's multiple-use mission is to sustain the health and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.
This position has been identified as one of the key fire management positions under the Interagency Fire Program Management (IFPM) Standard. This position has been categorized as a Center Manager at the High Complexity Level, and requires selectee to meet the minimum qualification standards for IFPM prior to being placed into the position. In addition to the base salary range and locality rate as stated above, you will receive a 5.57% cost of living allowance.
This position manages and directs programs supporting the coordination, logistical support, and dispatch of fire and emergency resources with Alaska and across the nation for Alaska Fire Service.
