About the position: 

This is a permanent position. 

 

Number of Vacancies:  We expect to fill 1 vacancy at this time; however, this announcement may be used to fill additional similar vacancies.

 

This announcement is open to applicants eligible for consideration under National Park Service (NPS) merit promotion procedures. The area of consideration for this announcement is current National Park Service employees in the competitive service serving on a career or career conditional appointment, within the local commuting area of Pu’uhonua O Honaunau and Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Parks.

Area information:  Pu’uhonua o Honaunau NHP is located approximately 23 miles south of Kailua-Kona on the Island of Hawaii.  It is approximately 30 miles from the airport.  The park is at sea level.  No government quarters are available.  Rental units are more available in Kailua-Kona than in Honaunau.  Hospital and medical services are 13 miles away.  Elementary school is 8 miles from the park; high school in Kona.  No public transportation is available.
