This position is ideally suited for individuals looking for a challenging career that offers the opportunity to work in the field of civil rights and education, and to perform job duties that help ensure educational equity for all students who attend our nation's elementary and secondary schools and institutions of higher learning. The Office for Civil Rights (OCR) in the U.S. Department of Education (ED) is charged with enforcing the Federal civil rights laws that prohibit discrimination on the bases of race, color, national origin, sex, disability and age by recipients of Federal financial assistance from ED. ED/OCR is recruiting for an experienced Equal Opportunity Specialist (EOS) to investigate and resolve individual and systemic civil rights issues, as well as to provide high quality technical assistance and customer service to ED/OCR's customers.
