Job Summary: A vacancy exists in PCS/Mental Health for a Unit Manager for 5 East, Acute Inpatient Psychiatry. The incumbent will have responsibility for evaluation and maintenance of patient care and treatment programs, resource utilization management, staff development, and ensuring adequate staffing for this 16 bed unit.  The Nursing Unit Manager is responsible for delivery of quality patient care, including documentation, demonstration of clinical competence and continuous Performance Improvement projects.  The incumbent is responsible for monitoring/ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures, and for ensuring that the unit achieves and maintains compliance with JCAHO standards, VA policies, and both national and VISN Performance Measures.  Collaborates with appropriate staff for program development, quality care and resource planning; collaborates with the multidisciplinary team in planning, directing and implementing programming on the unit.
