About the Position: The US Army Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering Center(NSRDEC) is a Customer-Driven, Customer-Focused organization, and is internationally known as a preeminent provider of research, development, engineering and integration services in the areas of soldier and squad protection and systems integration, military rations and field feeding equipment, military parachuting and airdrop systems, and expeditionary basing. Through our research in areas such as materials sciences, biochemistry, human performance and human sciences; technology development and integration; and systems engineering, product development and support the NSRDEC plays a vital role in maximizing the effectiveness of America's military. We are conveniently located on the shores of Lake Cochituate, in Natick, MA, (a suburb of Boston, near Routes 9, 90, 95 and 495). The US Army Natick Solider Research Development & Engineering Center is participating in an alternative personnel system known as the Laboratory Personnel Demonstration Project (DEMO). Among other features, the Demonstration Project replaces GS grade levels with occupational families and pay bands. The pay band DB-04 is equal to the former GS-14 step 01 through GS-15 step 10. The pay band DB-03 is equal to the former GS-12 step 01 through GS-14 step 10. Specialized experience that is to be addressed in your application is defined as follows.

This is a Term appointment Not -to-Exceed 1 Year and 1 Day but may be extended up to a maximum of 6 Years. There is potential that employees hired for these positions may be converted to permanent appointments. To be converted, the employee must: (1) have been selected for the term appointment under competitive procedures with the job announcement specifically stating that selected individual(s) may be converted to a career-conditional appointment at a later date; (2) have served two years of continuous service in the term position with a current performance score of 30 or greater; and (3) be selected under merit promotion procedures for the permanent position.
