JOB SUMMARY:

About the Position:
This is an interdisciplinary position which may be filled under any of the following titles and occupational series, depending on the qualifications of the applicant and the needs of the agency:
Supervisory Natural Resources Management Specialist (Ranger), GS-401
Supervisory Fish and Wildlife Manager (Ranger), GS-480

This position is with the United States Army Corps Engineers, Mobile District, Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway (TTWW) Project located in Mississippi.   

Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway is over 234 miles long has 10 lakes with locks and dams systems that allow for a shorter navigational route from the interior United States to the Gulf of Mexico. The Waterway has 7 Class A campgrounds, 2 visitor centers, 4 beaches, a water spray ground and over 40 recreational day-use areas which make it an ideal location for outdoor recreation activities.

Our Civil Works Mission consists of 3 major functions – Navigation, Wildlife Mitigation and Recreation. Navigating the Tenn-Tom as opposed to taking the Mississippi river saves companies over 800 miles to the Coast. The Wildlife Mitigation Program, which includes over 72,000 acres of land on the Tenn-Tom and another 180,000+ acres at other areas, provides wildlife opportunities for everyone, whether it is bird watching or deer hunting. Last but certainly not least, the Recreation Program provides opportunities for boating, picnicking, swimming and camping.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is authorized
  • Temporary Duty (TDY) travel is 5 percent.
  • Defense National Relocation Program will not be authorized.
