There is currently a vacancy for a full-time Registered Nurse as Nurse Manager for the 3 West, an inpatient surgical unit. The Nurse Manager (NM) is a registered nurse who is responsible for the management, direction, and delivery of quality care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. This unit specializes in the delivery of comprehensive care for patients requiring pre- and post operative care for a wide variety of surgical specialties including general, vascular, thoracic, urologic, orthopedic, and neurosurgery. He/she demonstrates leadership in improving patient care by effective use of allocated resources, forecasting needs, providing education and guidance to staff, and by monitoring and evaluating the care provided by staff. He/she assures that the delivery of care is in accordance with established standards, hospital policies and procedures and is consistent with the plan of other health care providers. Standard shift will be day shift, Monday-Friday. However, the Manager is responsible for the unit 24/7 and will be expected to be available by phone for urgent/emergent needs during hours of unit operation and may occasionally rotate shifts to assist with clinical coverage. This position reports to the Chief Nurse/Co-Leader for Surgical Service.
