BLM is seeking a dynamic and energetic individual to join the team!

 

The BLM manages more land – approximately 245 million acres - than any other Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western states, including Alaska. The Bureau, with a budget of about $1 billion, also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estates throughout the nation. The BLM's multiple-use mission is to sustain the health and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.

If you are ready for a challenge and you want to make a difference, the Southern Nevada District is the place for you!!  The BLM in southern Nevada manages over three million acres of public land in Clark County and a portion of Nye County.  The District is composed of four Divisions (Fire, Law Enforcement, Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act and Support Services) and three Field Offices (Las Vegas, Pahrump/Renewable Energy Coordination Office and Red Rock/Sloan) and employs over 150 full-time equivalent employees (among the best hands in the Bureau).  It manages one of the Bureau’s largest realty programs, performs habitat monitoring/mitigation for the Desert Tortoise, permits renewable energy projects and related transmission, provides a wide variety of outdoor recreation opportunities, manages some amazing lands (including Red Rock Canyon, the crown jewel of the NLCS), and works with a large and diverse group of stakeholders in managing the public lands under its jurisdiction.  As the District Manager, you will direct a dynamic District Leadership Team and be a member of BLM Nevada’s visionary State Leadership Team.  You will have the chance to live in wonderful Las Vegas, Nevada, which boasts some of the world’s best amenities (world class shopping, restaurants and concerts), a pleasant climate, and a relatively low cost of living.  The opportunities are unlimited.
