The Bureau of Indian Affairs is the lead agency for the United States in carrying on a government-to-government relationship with the tribal nations. The incumbent will serve as a Supervisory Criminal Investigator (Chief of Police) for the Agency law enforcement program and activities. The primary responsibilities involve maintenance of law and order in various civil and criminal violations, including felonies and misdemeanors under Federal, State, local and tribal laws and customs, which may vary or directly conflict.
The individual selected for this position will be working for the U.S. Department of Interior (DOI), Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), Office of Justice Services (OJS), Division of Law Enforcement Services, District II, Miami Agency, Miami, Oklahoma.
Salary Information: GL-9: $49,259 - $63,259 per annum; GS-11: $57,408 - $74,628 per annum; GS-12: $68,809 - $89,450 per annum. First time hires to the Federal Government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.
The position has a full performance level of GS-12.
Position is subject to drug testing, medical examination, physical fitness testing, and position adjudication of a background investigation.
NOTE: This is a supervisory position. Under provision of the Civil Service Reform Act, first-time supervisors are required to serve a probationary period before their appointment becomes final. If the employee does not satisfactorily complete the probation, he/she has a right to be returned to a non-supervisory or non-managerial position of no lower grade and pay than the previous non-supervisory position held.
