The mission of the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) is to increase food security and reduce hunger in partnership with cooperating organizations by providing children and low-income people with access to food, a healthy diet, and nutrition education in a manner that supports American agriculture and inspires public confidence.
This position is recruiting for the Quality Control Branch Chief, located in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Program Accountability and Administration Division, with responsibility over national quality control policy and processes. As the Branch Chief, the position is responsible for supervising policy and statistician staff, providing leadership in quality control, and working collaboratively with Program stakeholders, FNS Regional Offices, and State Agencies.
SNAP operates a quality control system, mandated by the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008, that measures State performance in issuing program benefits to eligible participants for the correct allotment amounts. This position is crucial to the Administration’s overall campaign to cut waste, fraud, and abuse as SNAP is one of major programs tracked by the Office of Management and Budget as it relates to progress in reducing improper payments. In June 2012, SNAP announced the lowest ever payment error rate of 3.8% in fiscal year 2011, resulting in a drop of improper payments of 57% since fiscal year 2000. Join the FNS team and be part of our commitment to continue to reduce improper payments and improve overall Program administration.
