This position is located in the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), National Mine Health and Safety Academy, Department of Instruction Materials.  The incumbent reports directly to the Academy Superintendent and oversees the Department, which is comprised of three branches:  Audiovisual Materials Development, Printing and Training Materials Distribution, and Course Development.  The Audiovisual Materials Development Branch provides planning, development and production of varied audio and video programs, sound recordings, still photography and other media to be used in health and safety education and training programs related to mining.  The Printing and Training Materials Distribution Branch provides for wholesale distribution of training materials, provides Academy supplies, property, utilization and disposal, quality assurance and printing services.  The Course Development Branch is responsible for planning, development and revision of resident and nonresident courses and instructional materials.  This branch also provides design services and produces various graphic products.
