This position is located at Wrangell-St. Elias National Park & Preserve headquarters in Copper Center, Alaska. Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve is located in the SE portion of South Central Alaska. Copper Center and adjacent Glennallen are small rural communities, with low population, and basic amenities as well as clinic, chiropractor, and a dental office. Elementary and high schools and a Jr. College are located within commuting distance. Recreational opportunities exist all times of the year. Summers are relatively cool but hot days are not uncommon in July. Winters are cold, with temperatures frequently dropping to 40 below zero. Average snow cover in winter is two feet. The park is accessible from Anchorage (approximately 200 miles distant) via the Glenn Highway (Alaska 1), or from the Canadian border at Tok.
