The successful applicants for these positions need to be energetic, motivated, self-starters with the desire to experience the full range of federal law enforcement, as a National Park Service Type I Commissioned Park Ranger. Glen Canyon National Recreation Area is a fast paced, diversified, law enforcement environment located on one of the most beautiful expanses of wilderness along the Arizona/Utah border.

 

AREA INFORMATION: Hite, UT is a very small community in a scenic and remote area of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. It is part of the Hall's Crossing District which is the largest district in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. Hite is the area where the Colorado River meets Lake Powell. This is the take out point for river runners rafting Cataract Canyon. There are four year round residents in Hite, with a few seasonal employees during the summer months that work in law enforcement and for the concessionaire. There is a gas station and store, a launch ramp, a visitor center and fire cache, and a campground. K-12 grade school is in Hanksville, UT, 50 miles north on Highway 95. This position is a required occupancy position. The employee selected will live in very nice government housing with a fenced in backyard. The surrounding land of the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area offers beautiful red rock country for hiking and backcountry recreational activity. Glen Canyon is centrally located to many other National Parks, such as the Capitol Reef, Arches, Canyonlands, and Mesa Verde to name a few.
