JOB SUMMARY:

Minimum/Required Qualifications:
<br>*One year of experience in a commercial food service utility.
<br>*Requires a Valid Food Handlers Permit within 30 days of employment.
<br>*Safety & Sanitation Skills
<br>*Experience serving hot & cold food, and drinks.
<br>*Good customer service skills.
<br>*Experience preparing simple menu items.
<br>*Strong communication skills including the ability to understand and convey written or spoken instructions in English.
<br>*Pursuant to UHDS Policy, this position is required to maintain current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillator (CPR/AED) certification (if cognitively and physically able to do so) within 90 days of employment or when training becomes available by the department. Training is provided at department expense. Duty to act ends at summoning professional emergency assistance.
<br>*The employee in this position will often be required to maneuver objects or carts weighing up to 50 pounds.  
<br>
<br>Position Duties:
<br>30% Assist concept leader in the serving of menu items.
<br>Perform routine food service duties, i.e. dispensing smoothies, serving soft serve yogurt, stocking prepared foods, letting the cooks know when taking the last item of stock and stocking paper products.
<br>
<br>35% Serve customers in a food service operation:
<br>Provide cashier duties in operation following the procedures as indicated by Dining Services cash handling policies:
<br>1. Meet and greet customers
<br>2. Provide friendly, polite, knowledgeable, efficient service
<br>3. Make change in exchange for goods.
<br>4. Operate a cash register.
<br>
<br>10% Maintain standards of quality:
<br>1. Properly care for equipment, i.e., display cases, LCR, display equipment, reach-in refrigerator units, etc.
<br>2. Advise supervisor when repairs become necessary
<br>3. Attractively display and serve food products
<br>4. Rotate and properly store food and beverage products
<br>5. Maintain proper portions
<br>
<br>10% Clean and sanitize service area:
<br>1. Clean and sanitize counter area and equipment on a regular basis
<br>2. Sweep floors as necessary
<br>3. Dispose of trash as necessary
<br>4. Make sure unit is clean and sanitized, floor swept, and trash out at the end of each shift
<br>5. Keep shelves and counters clean and neat
<br>6. Notify supervisor when supplies are low
<br>
<br>05% Lead Work and Training
<br>1. Lead Worker and training of student workers, as necessary, in procedures for customer service, proper operation and maintenance of equipment, sanitation and food safe practices and processes.
<br>2. Assist in training student relief cashiers and servers.
<br>3. Notify supervisor of staffing needs
<br>
<br>05% Supply inventory, closing process and miscellaneous:
<br>1. Keep adequate supply of all retail items on shelves, and in refrigerators.
<br>2. Stock necessary items for smoothie preparation, and maintain throughout shift.
<br>3. Maintain cups and other supplies in service area
<br>4. Notify supervisor when supplies are low
<br>5. Ensure security of the unit at the beginning and end of the shift
<br>6. Verify ending cash balance at the end of the shift
<br>7. Other duties as required
<br>
<br>05% Use a computer to check work schedule, complete time sheet, complete online forms and check employer provided email.
