The Central Alabama veteran Health Care System (CAVHCS) is a consolidated health care system that includes VA Medical Centers in Montgomery and Tuskegee Alabama as well as Community Based Outpatient Clinics in Dothan, Alabama, Columbus, Georgia and Monroeville, Alabama. The Primary Duty Station for this position is at Tuskegee, Alabama. The incumbent will be required to work on site at the other locations as required.

The Physician works as a member of a multi-disciplinary health care team, collaborating with other members of the team to provide Primary Care to Veterans enrolled on the team. The physician is expected to demonstrate advanced competencies and skills in assessing the physical and psychosocial status of patients and family members, play and active role in the multi-disciplinary health care team, promote preventive health measures, manage the acute and chronic conditions of his/her assigned panel of patients and those patients assigned to other team members when circumstances require. The Primary Care Physician is accountable to the Chief Medical Officer, COS/Ambulatory Care, or designee.
NOTE: The professional Standards Board (a peer-review group) will review the selected candidate's education and experience and recommend the step at which the candidate will be placed in that specific grade. The salary is based on the grade and step approved for the selected candidate.
Work Schedule: Typical work hours are between 08:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
