The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) manages the exploration and development of the nations offshore resources. It seeks to appropriately balance economic development, energy independence, and environmental protection through oil and gas leases, renewable energy development and environmental reviews and studies.
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide the skills, knowledge, and abilities required to estimate the resource potential for offshore lands in the Alaska Region and to fulfill the legal mandate to assure that fair market value is received for all the leasing of all Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) leased lands. The accomplishment of these objectives requires the use of technically supportable geologic and petroleum engineering techniques combined with economic projections. The incumbent will also serve as a principal advisor to management on technical issues related to engineering and economic evaluation.
This position is permanent full-time within Bureau of Ocean Energy (BOEM), Alaska OCS Region, Resource Evaluation Office, Resource and Economic Analysis Section, and is located in Anchorage, Alaska.
Salary Information: GS-13 $90,264-$117,343 per annum; GS-14 $106,665-$138,659 per annum; First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.
BOEM has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework only during an emergency or natural disaster.
