Bureau of Safety & Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) works to promote safety, protect the environment, and conserve resources offshore through vigorous regulatory oversight and enforcement.

Salary Updated as of 1/3/14:  GS-7 $53,088-$54,515; GS-9 $63,536-$79,235; GS-11 $70,102-$89,101

This position is in the Office of Field Operations (FO), Alaska BSEE Region and is directly related to safety of operations, protection of oil and gas facilities, conservation of natural resources and preservation of the environment.

At the full performance level of the position (GS-13) the incumbent will serve as a senior petroleum engineer to the RS/FO providing expert, technical expertise on offshore drilling, production, workover/completion, or other related operations on a regular basis on the most complex unconventional, state-of-the-art oil, gas and other mineral facilities under unique Arctic conditions in frontier offshore areas where new and unusual technology will be used.

Recruitment Bonus:  Recruitment bonuses may be authorized, which are in addition to the salary range indicated below.  When applicable requirements are met, the position may provide additional compensation through one or more of the following: • Student Loan Repayment Program; • Recruitment Incentive; • Relocation Incentive; • Superior Qualifications

Salary Range Information:  GS-07:  $53,088–$65,926 per annum., GS-09: $63,536-$79,235 per annum., GS-11 $70,102-$89,101 per annum.  First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level

BSEE has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.
