This position is located in the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Alaska Federal Aid Division, on the Division's Engineering and Operations Team, and is responsible for the administration and the overall Federal-aid highway program within the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF)Northern Region.
You will be responsible for the oversight of the Federal-aid highway program at the program level and within the DOT&PF Northern Region at the project level. Your responsibilities will include participation in planning, design, environmental analysis, construction and maintenance. You will also represent the Division Office and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) in all matters involving the DOT&PF, consultants, contractors, other agencies and the public.
The ideal candidate for this position has professional engineering experience in highway planning, design, construction, and maintenance, which included interpreting project environmental requirements, obtaining necessary environmental clearances, and resolving technical issues.
PLEASE NOTE: In addition to the base salary, a 5.57% COLA has been added.
HOME LEAVE: In addition to receiving travel and transportation expenses to and from this duty post (Juneau, Alaska), upon completion of your first 2 years of service in this position and after signing a subsequent service agreement for additional an 2 years in this location, you will be entitled to paid round trip travel for you and your immediate family to your home location in the lower 48 states for the purpose of taking leave.
