The Seasonal Recruitment Operations Center is currently accepting applications to fill up to 1 temporary position at Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve. Appointments made under this announcement are limited to 1039 hours (six months) in a service year and may be terminated at any time. Appointments under this announcement are eligible for rehire and/or extension (when initial appointment is less than 1039 hours) if workload and funding allow. Individuals selected under this vacancy announcement are eligible for rehire in subsequent service years.  Anticipated Entry on Duty: May, 2014

Eagle - Eagle lies on the banks of the Yukon River and is a remote community with a population of approx. 170 during the summer months. Eagle is located at the end of the Taylor Hwy 161 miles from Tetlin Junction, AK. The closest large town is Fairbanks, 385 miles away. Eagle is 140 road miles from Dawson City, Y.T. Canada. Eagle has one grocery store with limited supplies and a bed and breakfast. The community well-house supplies a water source for residents to haul potable drinking water. A library provides internet access. July temperatures average 50 to 72. Average annual precipitation is 11.3 inches. Eagle serves as the primary field site outside of Fairbanks for Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve and includes a small visitor center. The Preserve is located downstream, northwest of Eagle. Available housing ranges from rustic to semi-modern and rent ranges from $250- $550/month. Park housing may be available.

This announcement may be used to fill additional positions if identical vacancies occur within 90 days of the issue date of the referral certificate.
