JOB SUMMARY:
<STRONG>Job Summary:</STRONG> "Where Creating the Best Hope for a Healthier Future Begins"<br/><br/>Provides for the humane care of laboratory animals by providing supportive care, feeding, and transportation. Minimizes research variables of potential infection and/or disease in the animal colony through adequate cleaning and disinfecting of equipment and facilities.<br/><br/>1. Daily care and feeding of assigned animals; handles and moves animals as needed to perform duties.<br/>2. Daily observation of appearance and behavior of assigned animals.<br/>3. Maintains documentation of daily animal observations, animal census, room temperature, humidity, and equipment maintenance records.<br/>4. Cleans and sterilizes cages, associated facilities, and equipment.<br/>5. Prepares and sets up new housing rooms for incoming animals; and houses incoming animals.<br/>6. Performs minor maintenance of animal caging, change out stations, and bio-safety cabinets.<br/>7. May assist surgery and research staff in animal restraint for anesthetic induction or euthanasia of animals.<br/>8. Assists research and veterinary technician staff with routine health care duties, animal manipulations, and health surveillance testing.<br/>9. May assist in rodent breeding colony management.<br/>10. Rotates on weekend and holiday work schedules.<br/>11.
