About the Position:
This position is located at Painted Rock Dam which is a remote area approximately 35 miles from the City of Gila Bend, AZ and 120 miles away from the City of Phoenix, AZ. ***Government housing (three bedroom/1 bathroom) is available for incumbent and family. This housing includes housing and utility costs at a current rate of $240 per month.*** Must have the knowledge and ability to independently perform the duties of Dam Operator as well as performs a variety of sub-journeyman craft duties. Must be able to safely operate a dump truck, tractor with implements, mowers etc. Must be able to operate emergency standby generator. Must be able to troubleshoot and repair various plant systems.
Working Conditions: Work is performed outside and involves frequent exposure to weather extremes including extreme heat and cold. Work is subject to a variety of pests and the possibility of bites from theses pest and insects exist. Work is subject to unpleasant odors, blowing dust, and fumes. Subject to burns, cuts, bruises ect, in performing maintenance and to more serious injuries when working on rocks and dam slopes. Work is subject to strain from lifting, cuts, and bruises and falls from ladders. Subject to high noise levels and vibrations. Work sometimes is in close quarters and near moving machinery and electrical hazards. Occasionally works in a high traffic area. This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Testing Program. Available to be called out during emergencies and during the flood season (15 November through 15 April each year) 24 hours a day. May be required to work 12-hour shifts during emergencies. May be required to wear a uniform for this position. May be required to carry and maintain a government supplied cell phone. Ability to lift and carry objects, equipment and materials ranging in weight from 50 lbs to 100 lbs unassisted.
