The Seasonal Recruitment Operations Center is currently accepting applications to fill up to two (2) temporary positions at Petrified Forest National Park, Arizona. Appointments made under this announcement are limited to 1039 hours (six months) in a service year and may be terminated at any time. Appointments under this announcement are eligible for extension if workload and funding allow. Individuals selected under this vacancy announcement are eligible for rehire in subsequent service years. Anticipated Entry on Duty: May 2014
Petrified Forest National Park is located about 26 miles east of Holbrook, Arizona along Interstate 40 in Northeastern Arizona. The park lies at the southern edge of the Colorado Plateau, and ranges in elevation from 5000-5500 feet. Summers are occasionally hot, with temperatures in the high 90's to low 100's, while winter nights frequently dip below freezing. Housing is available for rent or sale in Holbrook, Sanders (28 miles east of the park), and Snowflake (50 miles south). Major shopping and entertainment opportunities exist in Show Low (70 miles south), Flagstaff (116 miles west), Albuquerque (226 miles east) and Phoenix (220 miles south). Government housing in the park and in Holbrook may be available for rent, but is not required.
