JOB SUMMARY:

The Tucson Telephone Center (TTC) is a component of the U.S. Census Bureau's National Processing Center (NPC) which is an ultramodern data processing facility featuring the latest in telecommunications and computer processing technologies to support the nation's economic and demographic indicators. TTC is one of NPC's centers for collecting, capturing, and delivering timely, high-quality data products and services for surveys and censuses via computer-assisted telephone interviewing.

This announcement is to inform the general public that the U.S. Census Bureau's Tucson Telephone Center is offering assessment  opportunities. The work sample and general knowledge assessments are used to build an inventory of qualified applicants for current and future needs for intermittent bilingual telephone interviewing positions.

These positions are located in the Tucson Telephone Center (TTC), National Processing Center (NPC), U.S. Census Bureau, 201 N. Bonita Ave., Suite 251, Tucson, Arizona 85745.

Tour of Duty: Intermittent, Variable Work Schedule, Shift - Primarily evenings/weekends. A Mixed Tour of Duty will be utilized based on the needs of the organization and those selected may move from Intermittent to Part-time to Full-time as needed to accomplish the work. Applicants must sign a mixed tour of duty agreement.

  • Employees are paid 10% night differential for any hours worked between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Sunday differential applies.


  • A two-year probationary period will be required.


  • Relocation expenses will not be authorized.


  • The selectee must be fingerprinted and initiate the required background investigation prior to placement.
