POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Workers Compensation Specialist is responsible for the over site of the third party administrators handling of Telecares claims. The Specialist will work closely with the Corporate and Program Staff in providing training, claim reporting guidance, and claim status updates. The Specialist will interpret Labor Code regulations and the appropriate application for occupational injuries. In addition, the Analyst will assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of initiatives, strategies, and training and education programs to control the costs of Telecares Workers Compensation program.
QUALIFICATIONS
- BA or BS in business management, finance, or related field and/or comparable job experience required.
- A Workers Compensation Certification preferred.
- Three to five years experience in California handling workers compensation claims for an insurance carrier, claims administrator or employer.
- Experience or knowledge of claims adjusting and regulations in additional states preferred. Knowledge of CA Labor Code for Workers Compensation, and related requirements of Workers Compensation Commissions in states where Telecare operates programs.
- General knowledge of employment law regarding terminations, benefits, COBRA, FMLA, ADA and how these areas may impact individual workers compensation cases is preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to prepare statistical loss analysis reports and prepare recommendations to management to improve controls and systems that reduce exposures to financial losses that may result from claims of injuries.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must have a valid drivers license, occasional travel required.
- Applicant must be fingerprinted and receive clearance from the Department of Justice and the Office of the Inspector General.
