Description  Humboldt State Universitys Department of
Kinesiology and Recreation Administration invites applications
for one full-time tenure-track position in Exercise Science. We
are seeking individuals with a background and research
expertise in exercise physiology and health promotion.
Candidates conducting research in other areas related to
exercise science will also be considered. Successful candidates
must have the ability to direct the research and clinical activities
of the Human Performance Lab.
Professional Qualifications  A Ph.D. or equivalent in Kinesiology
or related field from an accredited college or university is
required at time of appointment.  Candidates with an emphasis
in Exercise Physiology are encouraged to apply.  Certification
with the American College of Sports Medicine is preferred.
The successful candidate must demonstrate the following
Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in
exercise science and health promotion
Ability to lead and direct the research efforts and clinical
services of the Human Performance Lab
Potential for or record of research, scholarly and/or creative
activity involving students whenever possible
Ability and/or interest in using a variety of teaching
methodologies to achieve student success among diverse
students
Ability and/or interest in preparing individuals to function in a
culturally and ethnically diverse society
Commitment and/or experience promoting and fostering a
learning environment that is supportive of individuals from
diverse backgrounds
Ability to establish a vigorous research program
Ability to engage in departmental and university service
Ability to secure external funding to support research and
program development and
Ability to establish partnerships with campus and community
entities.
At the time of appointment, the successful candidate, if not a
U.S. citizen, must have authorization from the Bureau of
Citizenship and Immigration Services to work in the United
States.
Evidence of degrees is required at time of hire.
Professional Duties  Candidates should be committed to
teaching excellence and to building a strong research record.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate
courses in kinesiology/exercise science and serve as Director of
the Human Performance Lab.  Instructional assignments will be
consistent with the programmatic needs of the department and
students.
The primary professional responsibilities of instructional faculty
members are teaching, research, scholarship, creative activity,
and service to the University, profession and to the community.
These responsibilities include  advising students, participation
in campus and system-wide committees, maintaining office
hours, working collaboratively and productively with colleagues,
and participation in traditional academic functions.

Evidence of required degrees, certificationss, or licensess will
be required prior to the appointment date.  Finalists for this
position are required to be fingerprinted through the Humboldt
State University Police Department.  Results of the fingerprint
process must be received by the university prior to the
candidates appointment.  The cost of fingerprinting is borne by
the university.
