Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborate with Branch Managers to institute control and remedial measures for hazardous and potentially hazardous conditions or equipment.
Conduct safety training and education programs, and demonstrate the use of safety equipment.
Coordinate right-to-know programs regarding hazardous chemicals and other substances.
Develop and maintain hygiene programs such as noise surveys, continuous atmosphere monitoring and ventilation surveys.
Knowledge of Environmental Regulations/Compliance including but not limited to RCRA, Hazardous Waste, SPCC Plans.
Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices, in order to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.
Investigate accidents to identify causes and to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future.
Monitors, and performs accident investigations, safety inspections, and audits.
Maintain and update emergency response plans and procedures.
Order suspension of activities that pose threats to workers health and safety.
Provide new-employee health and safety orientations, and develop materials for these presentations.
Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
Manages all activities required by worker compensation laws, OSHA, and corporate policy for the adjustment and mitigation of claims and financial losses.
Implements corporate and local safety policies and procedures at the branch level that are in compliance with local, state and federal rules and regulations.
Demonstrate a high visibility and positive attitude in order to establish an effective and responsible safety culture.
Act as resource to branch management teams regarding safety.
Train and monitor safety orientations, training program industrial hygiene monitoring and equipment maintenance hazard communication program MSDS inventory branch and site safety inspections.
Perform additional EHS Administrative Duties as directed i.e. monthly safety topic, BBS program, Near Miss program
Requirements Bachelors degree B.A. or five years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience in Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety or a related field. Knowledge or experience of system safety program planning, construction safety, industrial hygiene, code compliance and project management.
Ability to travel as needed
Ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management. Ability to gain consensus and build strong teams.
Excellent communication skills to achieve cooperation and acceptance of changes in methods and procedures by workers. Significant aptitude in building and delivering training programs.
