Purpose and Scope:Leads, directs, guides, and mentors workforce in successful accomplishment of warehousing and storage, document control, issue, transportation, and shipping operations for the DLA/Wolverine distribution mission. Implements employee incentives, mentors, and trains employees. May represent Distribution Center to Host Commander, provides active support to host base and Emergency Response/Disaster Preparedness Representative. Ensures all rules, regulations, contract provisions, state and federal laws are held in strict compliance. Interfaces with authorized labor representatives and disciplines employees as necessary for proper order of operations, may be designated as the alternate Site Manager.Essential Responsibilities:* Maintain minimum acceptable performance levels (APL) on current contract requirements.* Manages, organizes, directs, and controls workforce in performing storage, issue, and transportation operations for the DLA/Wolverine distribution mission.* Authorizes deviation from routine to respond to emergency situation.* Ensures all cost, time-keeping, and accountability of expenditures are appropriate and available for audit.* Collaborates with Wolverine management to review Quality Assurance and the Continous Improvement Program.* Ensures Safety, Training and certification program compliance as this relates to transportation/distribution processes.* Works to develop innovative and performance enhancing opeational processes.* Implements employee incentives, mentors employees, encourages workforce through coaching and teaching.* Ensures compliance with COT, EPA, and State Agencies involved with the transport, storage, and movement of material.* Provide hands on (practical) training on all MHE/PIT.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:* Minimum of five years specific experience in management of a distribution, supply, or transportation operation.* Must have directed a program involving receipt, storage and/or transportation of HAZMAT or Radioactive material.* Bachelor''s degree in Business or Logistics Operations required. May substitute experience for education.* Knowledge of DSS, MIS, and other automated systems used in DLA/DDC and in required reports to Wolverine.* Knowledge of commercial logistics and distribution practices.* Position requires a Secret Clearance. This position reports to and receives operational requirements from the Operations Manager.Environment, Physical, and Mental Demands:Industrial environment with hazardous equipment, moving MHE, obstacles and high volume activity. Must be able to lift 65 lbs. for men and 45 lbs. for women and carry for short distances, stoop, bend, kneel, walk, have dull dexterity, and correctable vision. Outside work in hot, cold, and wet weather is often required.
