Departmental Overview
MARKETING SPECIALIST 3 The Institute of Human Development
IHD is an Organized Research Unit, which fosters and supports
interdisciplinary research in human development across the life
span. The Greater Good Science Center, a part of the IHD,
studies the psychology, sociology and neuroscience of human
well-being and teaches skills for fostering a thriving, resilient
and compassionate society.
The Greater Good Science Centers Marketing Director ensures
that the GGSCs articles, videos, and other content from its
online magazine, Greater Good, reach a wide audience, and that
its events are well-attended. The Marketing Director also helps
raise public awareness of the GGSC and its programs through the
GGSCs website, newsletters, social media platforms, and other
media channels.
Responsibilities
- Organize and coordinate marketing of website content, which
includes social media planning, execution, and tracking finding,
negotiating and monitoring distribution deals with varied outlets
for GGSC content optimizing search engine rankings
coordinating e-newsletter production and distribution building
newsletter registrations advertising the GGSC through other
media and creating print and electronic collateral.
-Coordinate marketing of the GGSCs Science of a Meaningful
Life seminar series and other eventsincluding webinars
through channels like e-newsletters, social media, direct mail,
and house ads. Update listings of GGSC and external events on
websites event calendar.
- Ensure consistent messaging and branding across program
areas and projects.
- Track metrics of success, which includes analyzing website
data and obtaining audience feedback through surveys, focus
groups, and interviews to help shape direction and content of
our editorial and overall programs. Deliver regular reports to
staff.
- Create and maintain systems for tracking and reporting media
placement and contacts proactively promote our mission,
programs, and content to members of the media. Update media
mentions on In the News section of GGSC website.
- Increase number of GGSC members and enhance visibility of
GGSC membership program and other development efforts by
tying them to broader marketing efforts, working with ED and
Development Director DD.
- Develop annual marketing budget in conjunction with Editor-
in-Chief and Executive Director ED.
- Maintain database of contacts relevant to all marketing
activities, including content distribution, event publicity, and
other allied organizations.
- Build relationships with outside non-campus affiliated
companies and organizations.
Required Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of best practices in social media to assist
with marketing efforts.
Strong skills in event and media activities management.
Excellent analytical and written communication skills.
Thorough knowledge of communication principles, media, and
marketing techniques.
Thorough knowledge of market research techniques.
Strong project management skills.
Strong interpersonal communication skills.
Skill in mentoring less experienced staff.
Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent
experience/training
Preferred Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of the Greater Good Science Centers
products and services.
Salary Benefits
$46,200 - $68,700 Full-time rate Salary commensurate with
experience
