Departmental Overview
The Residential  Student Service Programs
Payroll  Benefits unit provides various payroll
and benefits services for approximately 700
career, 300 limited and 1300 student employees in
the department.  The unit is responsible for
processing personnel action forms, maintaining
payroll/personnel/benefits records, and paying
RSSP employees from a variety of pay plans and
contracts on both manual and computerized
reporting systems.
Responsibilities
Serve as a Payroll Specialist for approximately
2300 employees.  Process payroll, make
adjustments, research and resolve payroll
problems.  Ensure timely submissions directly
entered into Campus Payroll Processing System
PPS for paychecks and adjustments.  Input of
time reporting and automated adjustments of
employee time in RSSPs payroll system Universe.
Process initial hires, extensions, title changes
and separations for our Online Personnel
Transaction System BizeBears into the Campus
Human Capital Management HCM System.  Perform
the full range of personnel/payroll processing
duties.  Prepare, process, maintain personnel
actions. Advise and train managers/supervisors on
payroll policies and procedures.  Analyze and
generate reports for accuracy of proper payment.
Monitor Work-Study Award balances.  Maintain
accurate knowledge of University benefits.
Required Qualifications
REQUIRED
Demonstrated experience in all phases of payroll
in a comparable setting.  Effective oral/written
communication skills.  Organizational skills and
excellent aptitude for details.  Ability to work
independently and as part of a team.  Ability to
set priorities, meets constant deadlines, and
complete assignments accurately with frequent
interruptions.  Ability to interact effectively
with diverse groups.  Computer experience and data
entry skills.  Knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
DESIRED
Knowledge of campus personnel/payroll policies and
procedures.  Ability to speak Spanish or Chinese.
Knowledge of Human Resources Management System
HRMS and On-line Payroll Time Reporting System
OPTRS.
