<tr><td valign="top" width="450"><b>DESCRIPTION--The Director of Pharmacy shall carry out duties and responsibilities required by Pharmacy Law, California Department of Public Health regulations and standards of the Joint Commission. In addition, the Director of Pharmacy shall be responsible for all aspects of the fiscal operation of the pharmacy department as assigned by the Administrator of the Hospital. As a Pharmacist, the Director shall interpret, compound and dispense medications and other pharmaceutical supplies according to written prescriptions issued by an authorized prescriber. Provide requested drug information to health care professionals and patients, participate in clinical pharmacy services, and provide pharmaceutical care to patients as delineated by Department policies and procedures. The primary professional responsibility of all NIH pharmacists is to provide pharmaceutical care. Identifying, assessing and solving medication related problems. Inherent in that responsibility is assisting in promoting safe, efficacious and cost effective medication therapy. REQUIRED SKILLS-KNOWLEDGE--Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy. Licensure as a pharmacist by the California State Board of Pharmacy. Ability to read, analyze and interpret physician orders, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to fill out forms, respond to questions from nurses, physicians and the general public. Effective written and verbal skills required. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to process information and decide which information should be brought to the attention of a physician and which may be acted upon. Knowledge of pathophysiology, interpretation of diagnostic criteria, pharmacokinetics and pharmacotherapeutics. Experience using computer applications including work processing, spreadsheet software and pharmacy information systems. Completion of 3 years of hospital pharmacy management experience or an ASHP pharmacy residency program in Pharmacy Administration. POSITION--Full time day shift with benefits.
