Provide for attainment of expected, extended life cycles and maximum utilization of city equipment with minimal downtime and expense. Ensure mechanical problems are anticipated, prevented, properly analyzed and promptly resolved.* Monitor the part purchase process. Review invoices and requests for equipment repair authorization based on predetermined limits and coordinate with preferred vendors. Ensure quality parts are purchased at competitive prices and that established purchase procedures are employed. Monitor vendors for quality and reasonable pricing of purchased parts and materials.* Ensure maintenance records are appropriately maintained in accordance with company policies and procedures. Ensure consistent and uniform application of administrative procedures at terminal locations.* Ensure proper tire maintenance processes are employed. Ensure regular inspection of equipment, tires and tire inventories. Develop terminal specific routines for tire changes, rotations and ordering. Provide for maximum safe tire life, proper cost control and minimum tire inventories.* Provide training and ensure compliance on company policies and procedures to EOL shop mechanics.* Maintain a safe working environment through good housekeeping, safety awareness training and proactive employee involvement.Qualifications:REQUIREMENTS* Bachelor''s degree in a related area or equivalent combination of education & experience.* Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.* Working knowledge of operations demonstrating and understanding of equipment needs, availability and processes utilizing equipment.* Knowledge of equipment maintenance and repair procedures, vehicle out of service standards and federal annual inspection process and requirements.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS* Two or more years'' experience as a shop supervisor with demonstrated leadership abilities.* Two or more years'' experience as a diesel mechanic and completion of vocational school training.* Completion of vocational school training in mechanics and experience in the Armed Forces in equipment maintenance or administrative capacity.YRC Worldwide is an Equal Opportunity employer
