JOB SUMMARY:

<tr><td valign="top" width="450"><b>Journeyman Wiremen perform work in the installation, testing, repair and maintenance of equipment and facilities used in the generation, distribution and transmission of electrical power. Journeymen install and maintain a variety of electrical systems using specialized tools and vehicles provide on-the-job training to apprentices and helpers, and diagnose and correct defects in power generation and distribution systems. The work requires expert knowledge of electrical theory and principles, familiarity with the tools and equipment used in the electrical trades, ability to interpret and apply blueprints, specifications and codes, and knowledge of safety rules and procedures.
For those applicants that need or would like additional education and training, the Advanced Apprentice option is available.
Journeyman Wireman JW
Must prove 8,000 hours in the trade through W-2 or SS printout.
Must pass the comprehensive IBEW Journeyman test.
California General Journeyman Electrician card required to work.
Starting wage $54.94 with benefit package - $35.15 on the check.
Advanced Apprentice Wireman
Must prove 8,000 hours in the trade through W-2 or SS printout.
Must pass the comprehensive IBEW Advanced Apprentice test.
Must attend Advanced Apprentice classes for two years.
Starting wage to be determined by experience. Minimum start $36.08 with benefits - $21.09 on the check. Automatic pay increases until graduation.
