PRODUCTION MECHANICAL ASSEMBLER I

Perform a limited number of highly repetitive, electronic and/or mechanical assembly tasks.  This job description describes the hourly personnel in the production department who perform the majority of the work. Tasks are performed under direct supervision and generally have limited complexity and involve minimal analysis or interpretation of data.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following
- Reads work orders, follows production drawings and sample assemblies, or receives verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.
- May be required to operate production and computer equipment and input a limited amount of data entry.
- Positions and aligns parts in specified relationship to each other.
- Crimps, screws, solders, press fits, or performs similar operations to join or secure the parts in place.
- Connects component lead wires between individual components, connectors, terminals and other contact points.
- Assembles finished assemblies, subassemblies into housings or cases.
- Assembles and attaches hardware, such as caps, cables, clamps, switches to the proper assemblies.
- Performs intermediate assembly tasks such as cleaning, bonding, and color coding parts and assemblies.
- Tends machines and equipment that press or wind component parts.
- Adjusts or trims materials from components to achieve specified electrical or dimensional characteristics.
- Performs testing and inspection to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards.

Education
High school diploma or general education degree GED or one year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, schematics and procedures
