Basic Job Function
The successful candidate will plan, design, analyze, develop, test, and document mechanical, fluidic and electromechanical components and systems for use in in-vitro diagnostic instruments.
Responsibilities/Duties Performed
1. Analyze product or equipment requirements to determine detailed specifications and design characteristics. Confer with applications and research personnel to clarify or resolve problems and modify proposed designs.
2. Prepare module, product or system layout and schematics to meet agreed requirements.
3. Research commercially available components and supplies for use in system and evaluate appropriateness.
4. Prepare and direct preparation of solid model representations of custom components, assemblies and systems in accordance with layouts and schematics.
5. Perform heat transfer, fluidic, stress, strain, reliability, and economic and manufacturing feasibility analyses for designs and optimize as necessary.
6. Generate and direct generation of dimensioned detail drawings to enable components to be manufactured. Direct and coordinate manufacturing of prototype components and assembly of systems.
7. Plan and develop experimental test programs that will prove compliance with requirements. Conduct and/or supervise tests and prepare reports of test results. Analyze test data to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications and plan needed changes.
8. Prepare and supervise preparation of release documentation for final designs in accordance with standards.
9. Provide engineering support and direction for transition of design to manufacturing. Provide training as needed.
10. Prepare and conduct design reviews for each phase of the product development process.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:
5 years Bachelors degree
