Performs advanced maintenance service tasks in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, machine servicing, electrical repairs or installation.2. Participates in special projects as required.Requires a High School Diploma or GED.Completion of a Trade School, Apprenticeship program, Military A School or equivalent On the Job Training Program.A working Knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items 009-07, Latest editionSeeking experienced submarine repair and maintenance technicians in the above trades at entry level (5 years), mid level (10 years) and upper level (15+ years). Must have the ability to hold a SECRET clearance.1)4-6 years of related Shipboard and/or submarine structural and mechanical maintenance and repair experience with HM&E and/or Combat Systems. Experience should include the following abilities:1) Lays-out and fabricates metal structural parts, such as plates, bulkheads, and frames, and braces them in position within hull of ship for riveting or welding:2)Lays out position of parts on metal, working from blueprints or templates and using scribe and hand tools in accordance with shipboard drawings.3) Locates and marks reference lines, such as center, buttock, and frame lines.4)Positions parts in ship and assists riggers5)Aligns parts in relation to each other, using jacks, turnbuckles, clips, wedges, and mauls.6)Marks location of holes to be drilled and installs temporary fasteners to hold part in place for welding or riveting.7)Installs packing, gaskets, liners, and structural accessories and members, such as doors, hatches, brackets, and clips.8) May prepare molds and templates for fabrication of nonstandard parts.9)Use basic machine shop equipment; drill press, lathe, mills etc.Able to climb high scaffolds, walk along narrow gangways, crawl into tight or dark spaces, and lift heavy objects on a frequent basis. They are exposed to fumes, loud noises, and other hazards.
