SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER TECHNICIAN

JOB SUMMARY:

Works under the supervision of mechanical
engineers to help design, develop, test,
manufacture, and repair mechanical and
electromechanical systems used as part of critical
care medical devices. Applies mechanical theory
and related knowledge to build, test and modify
medical device prototypes during the product
development life cycle.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1.Provide technical assistance and
resolution when mechanical or engineering problems
are encountered
2.Assemble mechanical and electromechanical
systems and prototypes according to engineering
data and knowledge of engineering principles.
3.Set up and operate test equipment to
evaluate performance of prototypes, developmental
parts, assemblies, and systems under simulated
operating conditions.
4.Build and troubleshoot breadboards using
assembly drawings.
5.Must be able to plan and execute
mechanical test programs with minimal or no direct
supervision.
6.Be be capable of developing complex models
and drawings in CAD.
7.Record, analyze and interpret test
information to resolve design-related problems.
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1.Build, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot
and repair instruments and test equipment.
2.Collaborate with mechanical engineers and
other personnel to identify, define, and solve
developmental problems. Work with vendors and
machine shops to resolve fabrication issues.
3.Other duties as assigned with or without
accommodation.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EducationAA degree, some university
experience preferred.
Experience4-6  years minimum related
experience required
Preferred Skills/QualificationsExperience
with Labview and Matlab
Skills/CompetenciesAble to use mechanical
power tools
Proficient with Microsoft office including Visio
Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings
Other SkillsGood documentation practices
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE
Position reports to the Manager Mechanical
Engineering.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Performs work in engineering development labs,
model shops and normal office environments.
