Overtime will be expected.Summary: Perform a wide variety of skilled duties in the installation, maintenance, repair, and servicing refinery equipment such as pumps, compressors, gearboxes, and steam turbines.Duties:* Perform reverse alignment and laser alignment on pumps, turbines, motors and compressors and make the necessary allowances for thermal expansion. * Read inside/outside micrometers, depth gauges, snap gauges, vernier calipers and dial indicators.* Rebuild and install mechanical seals such as; Sealol, John Crane, and Flowserve (bellows and conventional)* Install and adjust tapered roller bearings, ball bearings, needle bearings, sleeve bearings, and Kingsbury thrust bearings.* Troubleshoot mechanical problems and estimate time and materials necessary to complete the job.* Set up and operate the lathe, milling machine and radial drill performing routine tasks.* Set up and operate oxygen acetylene cutting torch.* Conduct minor welding repairs on mechanical equipment.What It Will Take to Be Successful:* Have knowledge of the working of centrifugal and reciprocating pumps, compressors, blowers, steam turbines, natural gas and diesel engines.* Be able to explain the uses for different types of shaft couplings.* Be able to explain the importance of alignment and element balance in rotating machinery.* Must be able to maintain a calm demeanor and react quickly to emergency or unexpected situations.* Must be able to get along well with others when working in close proximity.* Flexibility to work during evenings and weekends for "callouts'Requirements:* High School Diploma or equivalent; one or more years of college strongly preferred.* Two years minimum experience in a petrochemical or related industry.This Position Requires Pre-Employment TestingEOE
