We are currently seeking anEnvironmental Health and Safety Managerat our plant inHayward, CA.POSITION SUMMARY:Manages the overall safety, health, and environmental activities with the primary goal of creating a safe work environment companywide.  Focusing on reducing loss and liability. This position will develop, implement, and manage the safety program that ensures compliance with state and federal regulations.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:* Develop and lead safety initiatives and programs with the goal of eliminating safety concerns throughout the facility.* Provide regulatory interpretation and technical support and advice, as required, on safety and industrial hygiene matters. Drive consistency in occupational safety and industrial hygiene management.* In the case of an accident or incident occurring, the manager has the task of completing the analysis to find the root cause behind the accident, working with plant managers, department managers, supervisors, and employees.* Develop safety trainings and train employees on all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.* Develop and maintain documented safety plans, programs, procedures, reports, and work instructions to meet legal and other requirements.* Ensure proper record keeping, including OSHA 300 Log and environmental reporting.* Serve as Champion for the Safety Committee, including the removal of barriers.* Coordinate with maintenance on emergency equipment and systems, including deluge systems, fire extinguishers, safety showers, etc.* Coordinate the selection and procurement of safety supplies and equipment.* Coach and mentor people on the vision of attaining an interdependent safety culture.* Ensure conformance with regulatory compliance and the management of all chemical and industrial waste activities related to hazardous waste management such as waste manifesting, packing, marking, labeling, handling, storing.* Examine plans and specifications for new machinery or equipment to determine if all safety precautions have been included prior to placement into production.* Tour plant to inspect fire and safety equipment, machinery, and facilities to identify and potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.* Review loss control reports from the company insurance carriers and regulatory inspections agencies and confers with appropriate management representatives on compliance with regulations and citations.* Conduct safety audits through review and analysis of performance of safety records and safety inspections of various offices and projects in compliance with company standards.* Participate in new product/process reviews for safety requirements including process hazard analyses, PPE, operator training, environmental concerns, etc.* Partner with maintenance to implement engineering controls to minimize safety/occupational health hazards and/or environmental risks.* Promote environmental, health and safety awareness through internal company memoranda, newsletters, and specific training programs.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:Strong leadership and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
