<tr><td valign="top" width="450"><b>Title: Mechanical Engineer - commercial analytical instrumentation / microfluidics, microfabrication, and chromatographyLocation: North America-United States-CA-DublinJob Number:_AB+001173A customer-focused Mechanical Design Engineer is required to design, build, and test world-class, state-of-the-art analytical instruments with specific focus on fluidics, chromatography, and microfabrication. In this capacity, the candidate will work within high-performance, multi-disciplinary teams participating in all phases of product realization, including concept realization and product commercialization. The individual will perform problem solving by collaborating through multiple engineering disciplines, while applying/ adhering to established guidelines and standard procedures.RESPONSIBILITIES:* Collaborate with research & scientific community membership in vetting next-generation concepts and technology enablers towards future product innovations.  * Participate in architecture definition/designs, and decomposition of top-level requirements to develop sub-system level requirements, specifications, and design documents for new product development.* Establish test plans and test procedures, and execute against these artifacts to verify design.* Participate in or lead sub-system mechanical/fluidic design and integration activities, monitor against performance/ design quality, cost and schedule objectives.* Develop, review, and release product documentation of modules and subsystems to established documentation guidelines and internal/external customer requirements. * Liaise as required with multiple product development groups throughout the product realization and launch process (e.g., Firmware, Software, Systems Engineering, Applications, Hardware validation and verification).* Provide technical support for released product lines, Manufacturing and Customer Services if/as required* Work within a Lean framework to embrace/contribute to business and/or department-centric process improvement initiatives (emphasis on cycle-time/cost reduction, design for robustness/reliability and removal of non-value-added steps) * Must have a Bachelor&#39;s / Master&#39;s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Applied Science, or its equivalent.* A minimum of five years related working experience from the graduation level.* Demonstrated experience in design/integration of commercial analytical instrumentation or subsystems is a requirement.* Microfluidics, microfabrication, and chromatography instrumentation design experience is an asset.* Experience in designing within a DFX (Design for test/manufacturability/ cost/etc.) environment and for volume manufacturing is an asset.* Demonstrated experience with mechanical CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) is a requirement.* Proactive, results-oriented, self-motivated team player with strong organizational skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills.* Demonstrated experience in leading a small functionally-based team to deliver design-to-requirements with respect to cost, schedule, quality and process adherence is an assetJob: Engineering
