Performs assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents, receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed, performs recurring work independently. Constructs components, subunits, or simple models or adapts standard equipment; smoothes and finishes surfaces of poured concrete floors, walls, sidewalks, or curbs to specified textures, using hand tools or power tools, including floats, trowels, and screeds. Work will include setting forms, installation of rebar and inserts, and finishing operations for large concrete pours. Position will require ability to obtain a Security Clearance/National Agency Check w/inquiries (NACI).Qualifications:Ability to understand basic engineering terminology. College courses in engineering, mathematics, or science highly desirable. Must have a valid CA driver’s license and must be able to provide proof of U.S. citizenship. Must be able to obtain a National Agency Check with Inquiry (NACI)/Security Clearance, as required for the position.Physical Requirements:May require sitting in front of a computer for extended periods of time (50%). The ability to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, reach above shoulder level and climb into a vehicle is required (up to 50%). Walking and working over rough terrain is required (50%). The ability to push and pull as well as lift and carry up to 50 pounds is required (up to 50%).Work Environment:Expected to b e able to lift 50 lbs. safely and safe use of ladders are required. Must be able to work in a team atmosphere and demonstrate leadership that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.Equipment and Machines:Office equipment operation – copier, computer, general equipment, fax, etc. – 10%. Operate a forklift – 5%; drive a pickup truck – 5%; drive a 1-1/2 to 3 ton truck – 5%.Attendance:Urgency of punctuality and regular attendance – 100%.
