Duties Primary duties include Support all aspects of systems engineering support to large ground system acquisitions, with a focus on command and control software and mission management software, for National Security Space NSS, SMC programs and Civil and Commercial CC programs support a disciplined approach to software systems engineering that ensures acquisition and operational success of mission-critical, software-intensive systems conduct reviews and assessments of contractor products including contractor use of COTS/GOTS and processes associated with architecture, requirements, reuse products, design, test, simulators both ground and flight and test drivers/tools to ascertain the maturity of the design, development and maintainability of the deliverable software systems. Participate in monitoring and providing oversight of contractor work tasks participate in joint customer-contractor working groups and peer reviews. Assess requirement specifications, allocation, and traceability evaluate test plans and procedures, and witness test events both at the factory and operational locations. Support risk assessments, and develop risk mitigation recommendations. Perform independent assessments and reviews as tasked. Formulate and present technical positions to the Program Office. Provide technical support as required at factory and operational sites. Qualifications
A bachelor degree or higher in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent, and a minimum of eight years applicable experience with demonstrated competence and hands-on technical experience in architecture, analysis, design, development and factory test activities specifically related to ground command and control software, or mission management software. Advanced graduate degree in software-related field is preferred. Should be familiar with the Linux operating system. Experience with modeling and simulation is strongly desired. Knowledge of and familiarity with various government acquisition processes and experience in software general systems engineering and integration GSEI tasks for ground systems is a plus. Demonstrated experience with and understanding of the full software development life cycle and use of software engineering and development methodologies, milestones, associated products and tools is essential. Past experience with multiple parallel, divergent baselines and their synchronization is desired. Candidate must have experience with various levels of testing. Past participation in end-to-end testing multi-segment testing delivery, installation, checkout and turnover of operational ground software and the analysis of the operational utility and performance of the delivered product, is highly desired, as is knowledge of and experience with site operations. Strong written and oral communications skills are a must. Demonstrated ability to work independently, be a team player, and interact effectively in multi-disciplinary teams with Aerospace, government, SETA and contractor personnel.
