ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN

JOB SUMMARY:

<tr><td valign="top" width="450"><b>Under general supervision and direction, Inspects, test, repair or maintains electrical equipment.  Provides professional, courteous service to customers at all times in an efficient manner and may work independently exercising limited judgment and decision-making. oInspect and test equipment and circuits to identify malfunctions or defects, using wiring diagrams and testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or ammeters.
Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering personnel in order to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems and to determine optimum equipment functioning.
Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits.
Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors.
Construct, test, maintain, and repair substation relay and control systems.
Follow blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans.
Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
Prepare sketches and/or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
Test, repair and clean equipment and components such as circuit breakers, brushes and commentators.
Adjust/modify control panels accordingly to ensure the proper operation of the electrical system.
Disconnect voltage regulators, bolts, and screws, and connect replacement regulators to high-voltage lines.
Test insulators and bushings of equipment by inducing voltage across insulation, testing current and calculating insulation loss.
Analyze test data in order to diagnose malfunctions, to determine performance characteristics of systems, and to evaluate effects of system modifications.
Prepare and maintain records detailing tests, repairs, and maintenance.
Open and close switches to isolate defective relays then perform adjustments or repairs.
Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit and moving and lifting heavy objects.
Daily inspection of company vehicle to ensure tools are in proper location, ensure all tools are accounted for, ensure vehicle is in working/running condition, including but not limited to inspecting for dents and or major/minor damages inside and out of the company vehicle.
