About the Agency

Western's mission also includes the effective utilization and conservation of resources consistent with national and international objectives set by the President, Congress, and the Secretary of Energy. The geographic area serviced by Western encompasses a 15-state region of the central and western United States.
The Sierra Nevada Region (SNR) is one of four regions of Western Area Power Administration.  SNR sells power in northern and central California, and portions of Nevada, to wholesale customers such as towns, rural electric cooperatives, public utility and irrigation districts, Federal, state, and military agencies, Native American tribes, investor-owned utilities, power marketers, and U.S. bureau of Reclamation customers.

• Travel is required to visit customers and attend Western meetings.
